Why repoint your Brickwork?
In time, due to weathering, gaps in the mortar can form. If left untreated further erosion of the mortar, lead to a more serious roof leaks. Water egress into the cavity itself can initiate damp problems, especially if you have insulated cavity walls.
Their are two main types of mortar repointing.
Portland which is used on modern property's and usually used on property's built after 1930 / 1940.
The other mortar repointing is Lime mortar  repointing. The lime mortar allows the property to breath and any trapped water to pass through the lime mortar joints.

One of many completed repointing works. On this particular occasion Liam Taylor was asked to repoint the lower property wall to stop masonry bees from hibernating. To prevent Masonry bees from entering you must first clean out mortar joints the prepare & repoint.


If left untreaded masonry bees can cause damage, over time holes left will let in water damp. 

What is Pointing? Gloucester Repointing


pointing can be defined as the finishing of mortar joints located between brick or stone. Over time the mortar between the Bricks can fail due to weather and other circumstances like wrong mix from the start, which intern doesn’t last as long, and it requires maintenance to keep the structure’s integrity intact.


Repointing is a process by which damaged mortar is remove to be repointed with new.  The joints will be replaced new mortar. Not only will repointing improve the stability of the structure itself, but it will also benefit the aesthetic appeal of your stone or brick as well.
